Honor thy father and mother

Paramahansa Yogananda: " 'Honor thy father and mother.' Why? Father and mother are representatives of God. They are but masks for the Divine Parent. Never insult the Divine Parent behind those father and mother forms. Honor them because God is in them. He gave them to look after you. But if father and mother urge the child to forsake God and righteous ways, then another law comes into play. No parent has the right to dissuade a child from seeking God and following truth. That is the ONE TIME the father and mother may be disobeyed; for our loyalty is to God, who loves us through our parents." (pg. 79, The Divine Romance)
